AeroVironment announces $100M campus and NASA Mars contract

AeroVironment has announced a $100 million investment to consolidate its operations into a new, centralized campus in Moorpark, California. The 20-hectare facility aims to unite five separate locations to increase development and production efficiency, with construction slated to begin in fiscal year 2028 and full operations expected by 2029.

In addition to infrastructure expansion, the company’s subsidiary, MacCready Works, has secured a contract with NASA to develop three autonomous Mars helicopters for the ‘SkyFall’ mission. Working in collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), these helicopters will be equipped with ground-penetrating radar and are projected to launch by the end of 2028.
