AeroVironment expands production with $100M US campus and Greek joint venture

AeroVironment is significantly expanding its production and international footprint through major infrastructure investments and strategic partnerships. In the United States, the company has committed $100 million to develop a unified, company-owned campus in Moorpark, California. This project will consolidate five existing leased sites onto a single 20-acre property, aiming to accelerate the transition from engineering and prototyping to fielded systems.

Internationally, AeroVironment has entered a binding shareholder agreement to establish a joint venture, AV Eagle, in Greece. Partnering with Athens-based Eyeonix SA, the company intends to build local production capabilities to meet regional defense demands. This expansion follows a period of growth, with the company reporting a record backlog of $1.18 billion at the end of fiscal year 2026.

Additional technological developments include a collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to develop Mars helicopters for the ‘Skyfall’ project, and a $400 million US Army contract for the Locust laser defense system.
