AES Colombia mobilizes heavy equipment to clear landslides in Boyacá

Heavy rains have caused landslides across the southeastern part of Boyacá, Colombia, disrupting the Transversal del Sisga road that links municipalities such as Santa María and San Luis de Gaceno. AES Colombia activated its emergency contingency plan, deploying excavators, front‑loaders and dump trucks to remove debris and restore mobility. The company allocated between 150 million and 200 million Colombian pesos for the operation and confirmed that the Chivor hydroelectric plant continues to generate power without affecting the national grid. Local authorities are maintaining constant weather monitoring and urging drivers to exercise caution while recovery work proceeds.

The rapid response aims to reopen the critical corridor safely and mitigate further risks from ongoing precipitation.
