AES nations advance joint 2032 Africa Cup of Nations bid

Football federations from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)—Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—are advancing a joint bid to co-host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).

In Ouagadougou, officials from the three national football federations met with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Sports, Youth, and Employment, Annick Pikbougoum Zingué Ouattara, to discuss the progress of the candidacy dossier. The delegation included Mahazou dit Baba Cisset, president of the Malian Football Federation; Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo, president of the Burkinabè Football Federation; and Issaka Adamou, president of the Nigerien Football Federation.

The collaborative effort is intended to strengthen regional cooperation between the three AES member states through a shared continental sporting project.
