AESabesp launches online Water Safety Plan course for Brazilian water professionals
The Association of Engineers of Sabesp (AESabesp) is offering an online training program on the Water Safety Plan (PSA) from 17 to 20 August. The course, aimed at professionals in the water supply sector, covers the concepts, requirements, and practical application of Brazil's ABNT NBR 17080:2022 standard. Instructor Rosângela Cássia Martins de Carvalho, a chemical engineer specialized in water safety, explains that the PSA integrates risk assessment across all stages of water provision, from source to consumer, and is mandated by national legislation such as Portaria nº 888. Participants will learn how to develop, implement, and monitor a PSA to prevent operational disruptions, ensure water quality, and build consumer confidence. The training emphasizes a preventive, risk‑based approach that promotes coordinated action among treatment, distribution, and monitoring teams.
