Aesthetic procedures see rising interest and shifting trends in Brazil
A growing interest in aesthetic and surgical procedures is being observed in Brazil, with a notable shift in how men approach cosmetic enhancements. According to a Datafolha survey commissioned by the Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica (SBCP), 30% of the population expresses interest in undergoing some form of aesthetic procedure at some point in their lives.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Josué Montedonio notes that the stigma previously associated with male plastic surgery has diminished. Men are increasingly seeking natural-looking results and specific corrections rather than total transformations. Common procedures requested by male patients include hair transplants, gynecomastia surgery, and targeted liposuction.
Medical experts also emphasize the importance of clinical safety regarding these popular treatments. Dr. Adriana Gois Machado warns that while procedures like fillers and botulinum toxin are often marketed as simple and quick, they require deep anatomical knowledge and individualized clinical evaluations. Safety depends on identifying contraindications, such as pre-existing diseases, allergies, or medication use, to avoid complications.
