AEW President Tony Khan Addresses Maya World’s Tragedy and Willow Nightingale’s Injury

AEW President Tony Khan said he offered time off to rising star Maya World after her brother Jatwane Anton Wilson was killed in a car crash, but she chose to keep competing. Three days after the loss, Maya won a quarter‑final match in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup on Dynamite, then beat Athena in the semifinals to reach the finals at the Forbidden Door pay‑per‑view.

Khan also gave an update on Willow Nightingale, who has been out since a right‑shoulder injury forced her to relinquish the AEW TBS Championship and withdraw from the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. He expressed optimism that Nightingale will return “relatively soon,” noting her recent public appearance at a Supergirl premiere and that AEW will crown a new TBS Champion in a Survival of the Fittest match on July 1.
