AEW President Tony Khan Calls WWE Counterprogramming a Compliment
AEW President Tony Khan said that WWE’s decision to schedule its “Worlds Collide” broadcast on the same night as AEW’s All Out is not a threat but a sign that WWE views AEW as a serious competitor. Khan compared the situation to the late‑1980s WWF strategy of running shows opposite Jim Crockett Promotions, noting that such head‑to‑head scheduling helped elevate the wrestling industry. He emphasized that AEW will focus on the quality of its own product, pointing to the upcoming AEW Collision show from Boston, which will feature multiple title matches and storyline developments.
Khan also reminded fans that AEW has previously faced similar overlaps, such as WWE’s free NXT Great American Bash against AEW Forbidden Door, and a free AAA live event against AEW All In in London. He framed each instance as evidence that AEW is now a recognized peer in the market.
