AFA faces scrutiny over headquarters location and business deals

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is facing scrutiny regarding its institutional transparency and business dealings. Documents indicate a discrepancy in the association's registered address. While local courts have validated the transfer of its social headquarters to Pilar to move away from the oversight of the General Inspection of Justice (IGJ), formal communications sent to international commercial partners continue to list its historic address at Viamonte 1366 in Buenos Aires as its “registered address”.

Additionally, the AFA's management under Claudio Tapia has come under fire following reports of business agreements with Gilad Somjen, an Israeli businessman who pleaded guilty in his country to presenting false corporate reports. The AFA reportedly entered into a $400,000 deal with Snow Media Limited, a company controlled by Somjen, to act as a regional sponsor for Argentine national teams in the Middle East and Africa. The contract specified that funds would not be deposited directly into AFA accounts, but rather routed through third-party entities in Wyoming and other jurisdictions.
