AFA faces US and Argentine probes over $500 million undeclared finances
Former IGJ chief Daniel Vítolo said the Argentine Football Association (AFA) investigation began when auditors found $111 million of unexplained entries in the federation’s accounts and an additional $400 million linked to the Superliga, a civil association tied to Argentine football. He also highlighted a separate $15 million irregularity involving match‑day revenue, of which $8 million was received and $7 million remained recorded as an unpaid debt, allegedly routed through the Miami‑based firm TourProdEnter.
In the United States, a federal grand jury in the Southern District of Florida is reviewing evidence on the AFA’s international commercial contracts for the national team. Prosecutors are examining more than $300 million in suspicious financial movements and could move the case to a criminal phase if the jury finds sufficient cause. The AFA has denied that its president, Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia, and treasurer Pablo Toviggino were subpoenaed to testify, and has rejected rumors of seized devices.
