AFA grants Boca Juniors five days to respond to Vélez Sarsfield claim
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) Disciplinary Tribunal has officially responded to a formal complaint filed by Vélez Sarsfield against Boca Juniors regarding their Copa Argentina round-of-16 match.
Vélez Sarsfield alleges that Boca Juniors fielded an improper lineup by including six foreign players on the official match sheet, which exceeds the maximum limit of five permitted by regulation. While only five foreign players—Álvaro Montero, Leandro Lozano, Carlos Palacios, Sebastián Villa, and Enner Valencia—actually entered the pitch, Vélez argues that the inclusion of Ángel Romero on the bench violated eligibility rules.
Vélez Sarsfield is seeking the disqualification of Boca Juniors from the tournament and requests to be awarded the victory to advance to the quarterfinals. The AFA has granted Boca Juniors a five-day window to review the case file and submit a formal response under Article 36 of the Disciplinary Code.
