AFA holds first major event in Pilar amid legal dispute over headquarters relocation
The Argentine Football Association (AFA), led by president Claudio Tapia, held its first major institutional event at its new social headquarters in Pilar. The move follows a legal dispute regarding the association's change of address from the City of Buenos Aires to the province of Buenos Aires.
Economic Criminal Judge Diego Amarante recently described the relocation as "a mere formality and legal fiction," questioning whether the move was intended to shift ongoing criminal investigations against officials to the Federal Justice of Campana.
Despite the judicial scrutiny, the AFA proceeded with an assembly for the 'Ascenso' categories (Primera Nacional, Primera B, and Primera C) to elect delegates for the 2026-2027 period. During the event, Tapia spoke about recent achievements in both men's and women's football, specifically noting the qualification of the national women's teams (Senior, U-20, and U-17) for their respective World Cups.
