AFAD hosts regional accreditation camp in Van

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) held its fourth regional accreditation camp in Van, following previous events in Konya, Bolu, and Trabzon. Held from September 25 to 27, 2026, at Van Eski Fidanlık Park, the camp brought together 810 members from 53 teams representing public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector across 23 provinces.

The primary objective of the camp was to establish service standards, increase quality, and ensure coordination within the framework of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan. The event focused on strengthening cooperation and information sharing among teams across eight different accreditation areas. In addition to training and official programs, the camp included social activities and competitions to foster teamwork.

Hüseyin Ceven, Head of AFAD's Volunteering, Civil Society Relations, and Accreditation Department, emphasized the importance of unity among field teams, noting that the initiative began three years ago in Diyarbakır to integrate various response units.
