More than 115 forest fires erupted across Turkey on 30 July 2026, driven by extreme heat and strong winds up to 84 km/h. By the following day, fire crews reported that 110 of the blazes were fully under control, while 69 started outside forested areas. The fires threatened popular tourist zones along the Mediterranean coast, including Antalya, Alanya, Muğla, Fethiye and the “Turkish Riviera”.

Strong winds pushed flames into residential neighborhoods and agricultural land, prompting evacuations of dozens of homes – 45 houses in Alanya and 80 houses in Aydıncık – and the relocation of livestock (52 large‑head and 20 small‑head animals in Seydikemer). Over 3,000 firefighters, supported by roughly 20 water‑dropping aircraft, 58 helicopters, 420 fire‑engine vehicles, about 200 bulldozers and nearly a thousand trucks, were deployed nationwide. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry sent SMS alerts to mobile users in nine provinces (Çanakkale, Balıkesir, İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, Muğla, Antalya, Mersin, Adana) warning of fire risk and urging the public to avoid open flames. International assistance included two Turkish firefighting aircraft sent to Spain and France.
