Afarak Steel nears takeover of Željezara Sisak in 350 million euro project

Afarak Steel, a newly established Croatian company under the control of entrepreneur Danko Končar, is moving toward the takeover of the Željezara Sisak steel mill. The deal, which involves an agreement between the Afarak group and the Italian Danieli group, is expected to be formalized within the coming weeks.

The total value of the project, including all necessary resources and associated costs, is estimated to reach 350 million euros, a significant increase from previous estimates of approximately 200 million euros. Nenad Končar, son of Danko Končar, is serving as director and is operationally leading the process.

The revitalization plan aims to restore production using Danieli technology, specifically focusing on developing capacity for construction steel. This move is intended to supply the domestic and European construction and infrastructure sectors while creating new jobs for engineers and other specialists.
