AFC Energy targets August CE marking for LC30 generator

AFC Energy is advancing the commercialization of its LC30 liquid-cooled 30-kW fuel cell generator, aiming to complete CE marking by August. The company plans to begin its first commercial deliveries in September.

Through a strategic partnership with manufacturing service provider Volex, AFC Energy reports that production costs for the LC30 are approximately 85 percent lower than its predecessor. The company intends to complete 15 units of this type by October 2026 and is working on scaling its new product generation while pursuing partnerships, including collaboration with Komatsu.

Despite these technological milestones, the company faces financial challenges during this transition. For the first half of the 2025 fiscal year, revenue fell to £17,000 from £408,000 in the previous year. Additionally, the loss after tax increased from £8.3 million to £10.1 million, driven by research and development expenses and a one-time inventory write-down of £2.9 million.
