Indonesia and India secure spots in 2027 AFC U-20 Asian Cup
The AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers have concluded with significant results for several Asian nations. Indonesia U-20 secured automatic qualification by winning Group H, finishing with seven points after a 2-0 victory over Australia. The winning goals were scored by Theodore Evan Leeming and Amar Brkic. Indonesia's performance was marked by a strong defense, having not conceded any goals throughout the qualification phase.
India U-20 also achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for the tournament for the first time in 20 years. Following a 3-0 victory over Bangladesh, India secured a spot as one of the seven best runners-up across the qualifying groups. Goals for the Indian side were provided by Danny Meitei Laishram, Vishal Yadav, and Md Arbash.
In contrast, several teams faced setbacks. Australia U-20 failed to qualify, marking a significant disappointment for the defending champions. Vietnam U-20 also failed to secure a spot and has been relegated to the Development Phase, which also impacts their eligibility for the 2029 qualifiers. Bangladesh was also relegated to the Development Phase after losing all three of their group matches.
