AFD approves USD 25 million for Paraguay poultry sector
The Agencia Financiera de Desarrollo (AFD) has approved approximately USD 24.93 million in credits for the poultry sector for 2026. This amount represents an eightfold increase compared to 2025 and accounts for nearly 49% of the total historical funding provided by the institution for this industry.
The financing benefits roughly 40 producers, ranging from small and medium-sized farmers to large-scale industrial operations. These funds are intended to modernize production facilities, integrate advanced technology, and optimize processes to enhance competitiveness and facilitate access to international markets.
Juan García, AFD's Client and Market Manager, noted that the initiative has reached nine departments, including Cordillera, Itapúa, and the Chaco region, spanning nearly 30 cities. The sector is considered strategic, supporting more than 2,600 jobs. The credit terms include an interest rate of 7.5% for intermediary institutions, terms of up to 15 years, and grace periods of up to 2 years, with additional favorable conditions for energy efficiency projects.
