AfD challenges Campact funding for SPD and Green campaigns

The political organization Campact is deploying significant financial resources to influence upcoming regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, specifically aiming to prevent the Alternative for Germany (AfD) from securing a majority.

Reports indicate that Campact has registered 620,000 euros in support for the SPD and the Greens, valued at 310,000 euros each. The organization has reportedly raised over 3 million euros through its ‘NoAfD-Fonds’ from anonymous donors. While Campact maintains it does not transfer money directly to the parties, the funds are intended for campaign advertising and local initiatives.

AfD leader Alice Weidel has characterized the arrangement as a ‘democratic scandal’ and has called for a legal investigation into whether these activities comply with party financing regulations. Campact describes its efforts as an independent parallel campaign funded by private donations to defend democracy.
