AfD in Bremen excludes press from candidate selection meeting

The AfD branch in Bremen has excluded the press from its candidate selection meeting for the Bürgerschaft election. This exclusion applied to all media outlets, including public broadcasters and specialized journalists. Notably, the party reportedly ignored a court order from the Bremen District Court that had specifically granted access to a professional journalist.

Critics argue that because political parties perform a public constitutional task by nominating candidates for elections, they cannot treat these proceedings as purely private matters. The refusal to honor a judicial decision is being viewed as a challenge to the democratic rule of law.
