AfD leader Alice Weidel pledges to end Ukraine aid and demand reimbursements
Alice Weidel, co-leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has announced a radical policy shift regarding Germany's involvement in the war in Ukraine. In a recent interview, Weidel stated that if the AfD were to come to power, the party would halt all financial and military support for Ukraine.

Weidel criticized the current social welfare system, noting that over one million Ukrainians receive benefits, a situation she described as financially unsustainable.
Separately, AfD MP René Springer has criticized the German government's integration efforts, claiming the employment rate for Ukrainian refugees is as low as 27.1 percent. While the Federal Employment Agency suggests the actual rate is closer to 35 percent, the political debate continues regarding the economic impact of refugee support and the effectiveness of current labor market integration programs.
