AfD leader Tino Chrupalla releases biography, draws criticism for praising Jürgen Möllemann

AfD chairman Tino Chrupalla presented his autobiography, "Handwerk – Meister – Politik," at a venue in Berlin. The book details his rise from a painter‑master in Saxony‑Upper Lusatia to a national politician and aims to explain the DDR era while advocating for craftspeople.

During the same event, Chrupalla praised the late FDP politician Jürgen Möllemann, noting that he had found Möllemann’s 2003 book "very interesting". Volker Beck, president of the German‑Israeli Society, condemned the remarks, saying they normalize antisemitism and risk attracting extremist voters. Möllemann had been accused of antisemitic positions in the early 2000s, including blaming Israel for terrorism and making inflammatory statements about Jewish leadership.
