AfD party maintains stance of climate skepticism
The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party maintains a stance of climate skepticism, frequently labeling climate protection efforts as ‘climate hysteria’ or ‘green ideology.’ AfD Co-Chairman Tino Chrupalla has dismissed recent extreme heatwaves and droughts as a ‘completely normal summer.’
Despite this stance, arguments exist that a conservative party focused on preservation might find alignment with climate action. While the AfD rejects ‘globalist climate ideology’ and renewable energy ahead of the Saxony-Anhalt state elections, scientific consensus indicates that human-driven greenhouse gas emissions have raised global temperatures by 1.55 °C above pre-industrial levels, marking the hottest period in approximately 125,000 years.
