AfD politician Leif-Erik Holm unable to cite EU funding for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

During a ZDF talk show hosted by Markus Lanz, AfD Member of Parliament Leif-Erik Holm was unable to provide specific figures regarding European Union funding for his home state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

While Holm criticized the EU, aligning with the AfD's platform which seeks Germany's exit from the union, he could not state whether the state receives millions or billions in subsidies. Lanz eventually clarified that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern receives two billion euros in the current funding period.

Following the exchange, Holm stated a desire for cooperation with the EU while emphasizing the need for national sovereignty. This stance contrasts with official AfD party positions, such as those held by Alice Weidel, which advocate for leaving the EU.
