Germany political polls show AfD lead narrowing against Union

Recent political polling in Germany indicates a narrowing gap between the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Union (CDU/CSU). According to the ZDF-Politbarometer by Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, the AfD holds 26 percent of the vote, while the Union has risen to 23 percent, reducing the lead to three percentage points.

Data from the Allensbach Institute for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung shows a similar trend, placing the AfD at 27 percent and the Union at 23 percent. Other parties show mixed results: the SPD and Greens are positioned around 14 percent, the Left (Die Linke) at 11 percent, and the FDP at 3 to 4 percent, which would fall below the five-percent threshold required to enter the Bundestag.

In regional politics, the Green Party in Reinickendorf, Berlin, has passed a resolution to refuse voting for any parties that assist the AfD in securing public offices. Similarly, in the Berlin House of Representatives, several parties including the CDU, SPD, Greens, and Left have signaled they will not support the AfD's candidate for Vice President, citing concerns over democratic integrity.
