AfD Surges to 29% in German Polls, Union Drops to 20%

Recent opinion polls show the far‑right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) topping the German party landscape, registering 29 % in a YouGov survey and 27 % in a Forsa poll. The governing Union of CDU and CSU fell sharply to 20‑21 %, creating a nine‑point lead for the AfD – the widest margin recorded between the two parties.
