AfD wins Saxony-Anhalt election as Amazon cargo plane crashes in Miami

In Germany, the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) achieved a significant electoral victory in the Saxony-Anhalt regional elections, securing approximately 44.5% of the vote. This result, which is more than double the party's performance in 2021, positions the AfD as the leading party in the state, though it has not reached an absolute majority. The outcome is expected to have notable implications for European politics.

In the United States, an Amazon cargo plane went off the runway in Miami. Preliminary reports from police indicate that the accident resulted in five deaths and several injuries. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the crash.

Additionally, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Nuuk, Greenland, to announce a new European strategy for the Arctic scheduled for this autumn. The strategy focuses on security, raw materials, and the region's increasing geopolitical importance, alongside a planned partnership agreement with Greenland.
