Nigeria: Yoruba groups and officials back Tinubu administration
Various Nigerian socio-political groups and officials have issued statements regarding the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere expressed support for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, though it urged the government to ensure the alignment does not bypass the Ondo State coastline. Additionally, Afenifere leaders have initiated dialogues with Igbo leaders to promote peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Association of Yoruba Obas and Leaders in the Northern States has also declared its support for President Tinubu, citing improvements in national security, education, and the stabilization of the fuel supply chain.
On the policy front, Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa highlighted significant reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, specifically the Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI). These reforms focus on technical and vocational training, STEM, and addressing the shortage of healthcare professionals to curb the 'Japa' phenomenon. Alausa asserted that the administration is working toward a $1 trillion economy by leveraging Nigeria's youthful population through improved educational quality.
