Afghan Ambassador calls for enhanced connectivity with Pakistan
Afghan Ambassador Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb has called for enhanced connectivity and cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan to promote regional stability and economic interests. Speaking at the National Defence University in Islamabad, Shakeeb emphasized that the two nations are deeply interconnected through shared geography, history, and social ties.
He noted that trade, transit, and the movement of people create a mutual dependence where political, security, and economic developments in one country directly impact the other. Shakeeb urged both nations to move beyond outdated assumptions and the realities of past conflicts, suggesting that the current political landscape in Kabul since 2021 represents a new reality that requires a fresh perspective.
Ultimately, the Ambassador argued that while the interdependence between the two neighbors is unavoidable, they can choose to manage it through coordination and cooperation rather than allowing disagreements to dominate their bilateral relationship.
