Afghan Church in Mumbai to host immersive light installation

The historic Afghan Church in Colaba, Mumbai, will host an immersive projection-mapping installation titled ‘ASCENSION’ as part of the Mumbai Light Festival. Running from August 27 to 29, the event will transform the 160-year-old Gothic structure using light, color, and celestial imagery.

Created by the Floating Canvas Company (FCC), the project aims to complement the church’s existing architectural features, such as its soaring arches, pillars, and stained-glass windows, rather than overpowering them. The installation is designed to highlight the building’s unique visual language and provide a new perspective on the heritage site, which serves as a memorial to those lost in the First Anglo-Afghan War.
