Afghan migrants report loss of assets following Pakistan deportations

Afghan migrants have reported significant hardships following their deportation from Pakistan, stating they were given little to no time to retrieve personal belongings, property, or business assets.

One returnee, Sanaullah, who had lived in Pakistan for nearly 40 years, reported being detained for several days with his children before being sent to Afghanistan, leaving behind his vehicle and business. Other migrants described losing livestock, tractors, and household goods, with some noting that financial assets remain unresolved in Pakistan.

Upon arrival in Afghanistan, returnees expressed urgent needs for shelter and employment, with some calling on the Taliban to assist in rebuilding their lives. This follows a September 18 warning from United Nations experts, who cautioned Pakistan against the forcible deportation of Afghan refugees and urged authorities to identify individuals at risk of persecution or human rights violations before removal.
