Afghan Taliban mortar fire kills civilian in Pakistan border clash

Afghan Taliban forces launched mortar fire into South Waziristan, a district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing one civilian and wounding five others. The shelling struck a bazaar in the Angoor Adda area, causing damage to local shops.

Pakistani government officials reported that military forces responded to the attack. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the incident as unprovoked aggression against civilian homes. There has been no immediate comment from Kabul regarding the cause of the exchange.

The clash occurs amid heightened tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering militants, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who use Afghan territory to launch attacks within Pakistan. Kabul has consistently denied these allegations.
