Afghanistan to host India for three T20I matches in Delhi this September
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have confirmed a three-match T20I series between India and Afghanistan, to be held in Delhi from September 13 to 17, 2026. All matches will take place at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium.
This series marks a significant milestone as it is the first bilateral series between the two nations to be officially hosted by the ACB, even though the matches will be played in India. Due to ongoing geopolitical and security challenges in Afghanistan, the ACB has frequently used Indian venues to host its home assignments.
BCCI President Mithun Manhas stated that the board remains committed to supporting the growth of Afghan cricket by providing players with opportunities to compete against high-quality opposition. The scheduling of this series also impacts potential cricket plans for Bangladesh, as the September window for the India-Afghanistan series overlaps with previously proposed white-ball matches in Bangladesh.
