Afghanistan defeats Bangladesh to reach ODI tri-series final

Afghanistan secured a place in the 2026 ODI tri-series final after a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh was bowled out for 160 in 41.2 overs, following an early collapse where they lost four wickets for just 28 runs. Parvez Hossain Emon provided some resistance with a career-best 70, while Saif Hassan added 41.

Afghanistan’s bowling attack, led by Rashid Khan’s four wickets for 31 runs, effectively dismantled the Bangladeshi lineup. In response, Afghanistan chased down the target of 161 with 87 balls remaining. Captain Rahmat Shah anchored the chase with an unbeaten 67, supported by Hashmatullah Shahidi, who scored 36 not out.

The defeat eliminates Bangladesh from the tournament. Afghanistan will face Zimbabwe in the final on Friday, October 23, in Sharjah.
