Rashid Khan becomes first bowler to reach 200 T20I wickets
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan made history during the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Sharjah, becoming the first bowler to claim 200 wickets in men’s T20 Internationals. He reached the milestone in his 120th appearance by dismissing Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Tadiwanashe Marumani.
Afghanistan secured a 19-run victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The win followed a massive batting recovery after Afghanistan collapsed to 5/4 early in their innings. Azmatullah Omarzai struck a career-best 116 runs off 50 balls, including 12 sixes, while Ijaz Ahmadzai contributed 52. Their 142-run partnership for the sixth wicket set a new T20I record for that position or lower.
Zimbabwe’s chase of 222 was spearheaded by captain Sikandar Raza, who scored an unbeaten 106 off 56 balls. Despite Raza becoming the oldest player to score a T20I century at age 40, Zimbabwe finished on 202/5, falling just short of the target.
