Afghanistan Deputy PM Baradar Promotes Data Transit Link Between South and Central Asia

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar said Afghanistan can serve as a data‑transit corridor linking South Asia and Central Asia. Speaking at the opening of the First Communications and Technology Exhibition in Kabul, he emphasized the strategic importance of expanding the communications and technology sector and advancing digital governance.

Baradar highlighted recent progress, including expanded telecom services to previously underserved areas and the implementation of a digital document management system across government institutions. He urged cooperation among government, private sector, academia and young innovators to further develop the sector. Other officials, such as Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Abdul Salam Hanafi, Industry and Commerce Minister Nooruddin Azizi and Communications Minister Abdul Ahad Fazli, reiterated commitments to simplify export procedures, digitise services and extend telecommunications to remote regions.
