Taliban forces kill 41 insurgents in Nuristan border clashes
The Taliban government announced the conclusion of a three-day military operation in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province. According to the Afghan Ministry of Defence, security forces killed 41 insurgents, including members of ISIS, and captured 62 others alive.
The Taliban claim that approximately 300 heavily armed fighters crossed the Durand Line from Pakistan into Afghanistan with support from the Pakistani military. The ministry further alleged that some of the fighters were former Afghan security personnel trained by Pakistan to create instability.
The Freedom Front claimed responsibility for the clashes, stating they had seized several villages in Nuristan and Nari Konar, though they denied any connection to the captured individuals. Pakistan has rejected allegations of supporting militant groups in Afghanistan, calling such claims baseless.
This escalation follows recent tensions between the two neighbors, including reported Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan.
