AFL Trade Period enters deadline day with major player movements pending

The 2026 AFL Trade Period has entered its final hours on deadline day, with several high-profile player movements still unresolved. At the start of the deadline, seven players—Jack Viney, Trent Rivers, Nick Murray, Keidean Coleman, Luke Pedlar, Josh Goater, and Will McLachlan—remain without confirmed destinations.

Key developments include Richmond player Jayden Short remaining at the club after a potential move to Collingwood failed due to a gap between the clubs' valuations. Additionally, Richmond and Port Adelaide have finalized a pick swap, with Richmond exchanging multiple future picks for Port Adelaide’s pick five. This deal leaves Richmond with two picks in the top five of this year’s draft.
