AFLW Round 11: Geelong and Melbourne secure key victories

Round 11 of the AFLW season saw significant shifts in the ladder standings. Geelong extended their winning streak to ten matches with a 30-point victory over Fremantle at GMHBA Stadium, a result that pushed the Dockers out of the top eight. The match was marked by several injuries, including Fremantle's Noa McNaughton and Geelong's Rachel Kearns.

Melbourne maintained their pursuit of a top-four finish by defeating the Western Bulldogs 37 to 20 in wet conditions at Whitten Oval. The win keeps the Demons in third place, while the Bulldogs dropped to fifth. Gold Coast also secured an important win over Richmond to remain in contention for a top-four berth.

In other action, Port Adelaide kept their finals hopes alive with a dominant 48-point win over a goalless Collingwood side. Meanwhile, Brisbane secured successive wins by defeating St Kilda by 52 points.

Off the field, the AFL announced upcoming rule changes for the 2027 and 2028 drafts, including increasing the father-daughter eligibility requirement to 100 AFL senior games. Additionally, Port Adelaide stalwart Justine Mules-Robinson announced her retirement at the end of the season.
