Afreximbank Launches Trade Platforms in Zimbabwe and Malawi, Announces $8 bn Industrial Finance Deal with South Africa
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) expanded its African Trade and Development Corporation (ATDC) network by establishing two new national platforms in Zimbabwe and Malawi. In Zimbabwe, the platform will be built with CBZ Agro Yield of CBZ Holdings, while in Malawi it will partner with Press Corporation Plc. The platforms aim to aggregate production, promote exports, provide storage, logistics, market information and structured trade financing to strengthen agricultural and industrial value chains.
Separately, Afreximbank signed a three‑year memorandum of understanding with South Africa’s Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) in Cairo to jointly deploy up to $8 billion into industrial and trade projects. The partnership will focus on sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, mining, renewable energy and infrastructure, supporting the African Continental Free Trade Area agenda and South Africa’s industrialisation strategy. These initiatives are part of Afreximbank’s broader goal to create seven ATDC structures across Africa by the end of 2026 and to deepen industrial financing in the continent’s largest economy.
