Afreximbank President George Elombi Visits Benin's Glo‑Djigbé Industrial Zone

Afreximbank president Dr George Elombi visited Benin’s Glo‑Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) on 29 July 2026. Accompanied by a high‑level delegation led by SIPI‑Benin director Létondji Béhéton, he toured key production units, including Benin Textile (BTEX), Benin Textile Corporation (BTC) and African Ceramics Solutions, which manufactures ELANO tiles. The visit highlighted Benin’s strategy to add value to cotton and other raw materials locally, reducing raw‑material exports and creating jobs. Elombi praised the modern facilities as a model for industrial development and reiterated Afreximbank’s support for intra‑African trade and industrial projects.

The GDIZ, a public‑private partnership under the ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms program, aims to host industries that process agricultural and mineral resources on‑site before export, positioning Benin as a regional manufacturing hub.
