Tanzania advances industrial and agricultural sector initiatives

Tanzania is seeing significant activity across its industrial and agricultural sectors. The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) secured second place in the Regulatory Institutions category at the 21st East African Trade Fair (MEATF) in Mwanza. To further support local businesses, TBS is launching standards clinics in Kariakoo and Mwenge from September 7 to 11 to provide expert advice on food and cosmetic product registration.

In the agricultural sector, the 10th Africa Agri Expo 2026 has commenced in Dar es Salaam. The event focuses on the role of innovation, technology, and investment in transforming African food production. Indian Ambassador Bishwadip Dey noted the potential for increased technological cooperation between India and Tanzania.

Regarding industrial costs, Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi has directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to collaborate with cement producers to ensure the material is available in large quantities and at affordable prices, addressing public concerns over high construction costs.
