Africa focuses on energy security and domestic capital mobilization
African economic development is increasingly defined by evolving energy strategies and the strengthening of domestic financial institutions. In the energy sector, the relationship between the United States and Africa is shifting toward a focus on energy security, critical minerals, and infrastructure. Experts suggest that for this strategic interest to be successful, African nations must convert resource wealth into bankable projects, while American investors must move faster to compete with other international players.
Simultaneously, the continent is seeing a shift in financial priorities from attracting foreign capital to mobilizing existing domestic savings. Casablanca is emerging as a leading African financial hub, recently ranking 38th in the Global Financial Centres Index. While the city manages significant project volumes across the continent, the ongoing challenge remains developing the depth of capital markets and regulatory frameworks necessary to structure and reallocate African capital internally.
