Africa Food Systems Forum addresses food security and agricultural resilience in Rwanda

The Africa Food Systems Forum 2026 is currently taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, bringing together African governments, businesses, and development partners to discuss strengthening food systems and resilience across the continent.

A Somali delegation, including senior government adviser Mohamed Mukhtar Ali, is participating to address food insecurity and natural disasters. Ali highlighted the importance of digital information services, noting that Somalia’s National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) is working to ensure government ownership and control over disaster management data to improve decision-making and emergency response.

Additionally, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) presented its 2026 report during the forum, marking its 20th anniversary since its establishment by Kofi Annan in 2006. Professor Jean-Jacques Muhinda, AGRA’s regional representative for East and Southern Africa, discussed the organization’s progress in improving agricultural productivity, market access, and infrastructure across various African nations over the past two decades.
