Africa health leaders commit to 10-point digital health transformation

At the Insights Learning Forum (ILF) 2026 in Abuja, stakeholders made ten commitments to accelerate digital health transformation across Africa. Hosted by eHealth Africa and the Dala Africa Group, the forum focused on strengthening healthcare delivery through increased financing for scalable innovations, improved maternal and child health services, and ethical health data sharing to create interoperable systems.

Nigerian health officials emphasized the transition from fragmented pilot projects to integrated, scalable solutions. Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, stated, “Innovation is the engine of transformation, and digital health is its nervous system.”

Parallel to these institutional shifts, experts suggest that the next phase of Africa's digital economy may rely heavily on voice technology. As AI improves, voice interfaces could bridge the gap between complex digital platforms and the diverse linguistic landscape of the continent, allowing users to interact with services like banking through natural speech and local languages rather than traditional text-based menus.
