African anticyclone drives heat wave above 36°C in northern Italy

An African anticyclone is strengthening over Italy, ushering a new phase of intense heat. Forecasts predict maximum temperatures reaching 36 °C in Como on Wednesday, July 15, and similar highs in Turin and other parts of Piedmont. The weather will remain largely sunny and stable, with high humidity, while the Alps may experience isolated heat‑related thunderstorms that could spill into nearby lowlands.

Temperatures are expected to stay above 30 °C through the weekend before gradually easing, but the heat and humidity will persist, posing discomfort for residents across the affected regions.
