African aviation sectors focus on governance and infrastructure investment
In Zimbabwe, Deputy Minister of Transport Joshua Sacco emphasized the need for Air Zimbabwe to transition from loss reduction toward sustainable profitability. During an Annual General Meeting, Sacco noted that the airline has moved under the oversight of the Mutapa Investment Fund to improve accountability and commercial discipline. Key governance improvements include the appointment of a skills-based board and new executive roles, alongside the completion of audited financial statements for 2020 through 2022.
Meanwhile, in Tanzania, Deputy Minister for Transport David Kihenzile called for increased private sector investment in air transport to boost competition and economic growth. This follows ongoing infrastructure improvements at Kilimanjaro International Airport, including the completion of the Uhuru VIP Lounge. The Tanzania Airports Authority continues to oversee development projects aimed at increasing efficiency and service standards across the country's airports.
