African club football enters decisive CAF qualification weekend
African club football reaches a critical stage this weekend as major teams compete for spots in the group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
In the Champions League, Zimbabwe’s Scottland FC holds a 2-0 advantage over Angola’s Petro Atlético. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns face Wiliete de Benguela following a goalless first leg, while Orlando Pirates defend a 1-0 lead against Namibia’s African Stars.
In the Confederation Cup, Kaizer Chiefs seek to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Zambia’s Red Arrows.
Separately, the CAF Disciplinary Committee is conducting a video conference hearing to investigate security incidents and reported events during the Champions League first-leg match between Rangers International and MC Alger in Nigeria. The committee will review video evidence and hear from team representatives before determining if sanctions are necessary.
