African club football: Mixed results for Ivorian and Tunisian teams

Ivorian football clubs faced a difficult weekend in CAF interclub competitions, with all four representatives being eliminated. Asec Mimosas, FC San Pedro, CO Korhogo, and Afad du Plateau all exited their respective tournaments, raising questions regarding the competitiveness and preparation of Ivorian clubs on the continental stage.

In contrast, Tunisian clubs saw success in the preliminary rounds. Club Africain secured a spot in the Champions League group stage for the first time since the 2018-2019 season after defeating TP Mazembe. Espérance de Tunis also advanced to the group stage following a penalty shootout victory against Libya’s Al-Swehly. CS Sfaxien has also qualified for the group stages. However, Espérance de Zarzis was eliminated from the Confederation Cup after a draw in Bamako.
