African Commission of Health and Human Rights Promoters re-inaugurated in Accra

The African Commission of Health and Human Rights Promoters has been formally re-inaugurated in Accra, Ghana. The event, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel, included the official launch of an Endowment Fund designed to provide sustainable financing for the organization’s future programs and activities.

Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Bagbin presided over the ceremony and contributed GH¢100,000 to the fund. The Commission’s founder, Professor Edmund Nminyem Delle, noted that the organization originated in 1989 to combat discrimination related to HIV/AIDS and has historically provided refuge to those fleeing persecution.

Under the leadership of CEO Bishop Louis Christian Godson, the Commission intends to focus on advocacy, education, accountability, and policy integration. Key areas of focus will include mental health, patient rights, health insurance, and environmental health issues, including the public health impacts of illegal mining.
